Newgrange Education Center ~ Hamilton, N.J. Meets the educational needs of people with learning disabilities, their families, and professionals in the field. Offers tutoring and educational evaluations. Organizes conferences, seminars, and professional development.

Educator Learning Lab ~ Online courses on dyslexia and early literacy for teachers, parents, and administrators. Including one free course on dyslexia awareness.

DYSLEXIA

The Craig School ~ Mountain Lakes, N.J., a private day program for children with learning differences. Specializes in a language based curriculum for children in grades three through eight, of at least average ability with dyslexia, auditory processing deficits, and ADHD.

The Craig Upper School ~ Located in Lincoln Park, N.J., the Craig Upper School is a private high school program for students in grades nine through twelve who have learning differences.

The Banyan School ~ Located in Fairfield, N.J., a private, state approved elementary and middle school for students with average or above average intelligence whose academic success has been compromised by a primary learning disability.

The Banyan High School ~ Located in Little Falls, N.J., a private, day school for students whose academic performance has been compromised by a range of specific learning disabilities. Banyan offers a well-rounded program of academic, college preparatory and vocational courses, which prepare students for higher education or employment.

The Community School ~ Located in Teaneck, N.J., Separate elementary and high school programs provide bright students with learning disabilities and attention deficits a strong specialized academic program.

The Cambridge School ~ Pennington, N.J., a nurturing private day program for children, in grades one through eight, who have been diagnosed with primary language based learning differences.

The Newgrange School ~ Hamiliton, N.J. A private day program for children, ages seven through eighteen, with language based and other related learning disabilities.

The Kildonan School ~ Located in Amenia, N.Y., Kildonan is a private day and residential program that offers a quality education for children with dyslexia.  A unique aspect of the program is the one-on-one tutorial based on the principals of Orton-Gillingham language training.

Greenwood School ~ A boarding school in Southern Vermont dedicated to boys, ages nine through fifteen,  with learning differences and learning disabilities (LD) such as dyslexia, attentional difficulties (ADD / ADHD), or executive functioning deficits.

Pine Ridge School ~ A private boarding school in Williston, Vermont offering a highly structured and individualized program for students ages nine through eighteen who have Dyslexia, Language based and Non-Verbal Learning Disabilities. The four major components of the program—academic, remedial, residential/social, and athletic/recreational—are designed and coordinated to address every aspect of learning disabilities as they affect student growth and learning. Excellent program with well trained and informed staff.

Private Schools for Emotional Growth

The Windsor Schools ~ Located in Pompton Lakes, N.J., the school consists of two programs offering alternative education for students with Attention Deficit Disorder and behavioral concerns, the Windsor Learning Center (K-5) and The Windsor School (6-8). Both programs feature a strong academic emphasis in addition to a structured behavior modification system, and routine counseling sessions for each student. I have found placements at the Windsor Schools to be highly successful.

Sage Day School ~ Three campuses located in Boonton (Middle School), Rochelle Park and Somerset (High School campuses) New Jersey. Sage Day is a private day placement for students who have been diagnosed as suffering from depression, school phobia, anxiety, and similar disorders.

Elan School ~ Located in the vicinity of Lewiston and Portland, Maine, Elan is a coeducational boarding college-preparatory and general academic school for adolescents with emotional, behavioral, or adjustment problems in grades seven through twelve.

Provo Canyon School ~ Residential treatment facility for adolescents, ages twelve through seventeen, manifesting severe emotional, behavioral, and learning difficulties.

Three Springs Schools ~ Offers several residential programs for adolescents with varying degrees of emotional and behavioral issues. Programs include short and long term outdoor therapeutic, secure residential, and transitional living programs.

Brehm Preparatory School ~ Brehm school provides a good transitional program: development of study skills and social communication skills.

American Council on Education (ACE) ~ A coordinating body for the nation’s higher education institutions. Seeks to provide leadership on key higher education issues and to influence public policy through advocacy, research, and program initiatives.

Midwest Center for Post-secondary Outreach (MCPO) ~ Works primarily at an institutional level to increase the capacity of colleges, universities, and other post-secondary institutions to attract and serve Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
