Blind/Visual Impairments

Learning Ally ~ An educational resource providing recorded materials for all people who cannot effectively read standard print because of a visual perceptual, learning, or physical disability.

New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CBVI) ~ Part of the NJ Department of Human Services that provides services in the areas of education, employment, independence and eye health for persons who are blind or visually impaired, their families and the community.

American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) ~ It is a national nonprofit organization for people with vision loss. Promotes independent living for people with vision loss by providing them and their families with relevant and timely resources.

National Federation of the Blind (NFB) ~ Provides advocacy, education, research, technology, and programs encouraging independence.

National Federation of the Blind in New Jersey ~ The New Jersey Chapter of the NFB provides training and advocacy to blind people and their families. Offers job referrals and placements. Helps the newly blinded learn techniques to enable them to maintain productive lives.  Provides information about governmental and private services, laws, and regulations concerning the blind.

National Library Services for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS) ~ Provides a free library program of Braille and audio materials.

Brain Injury

Brain Injury Association (BIAA) ~ National organization serving individuals, families and professionals who are touched by a life-altering, often devastating, traumatic brain injury (TBI). Provides information, education and support.

Brain Injury Association of New Jersey ~ It is a statewide membership organization dedicated to providing education, outreach, prevention, advocacy and support services to all persons affected by brain injury and to the general public.

Traumatic and Acquired Brain Injury Related Sites ~ A fund of resources and links related to education, advocacy, support groups and resources for individuals affected by brain injuries.

Cerebral Palsy

United Cerebral Palsy Association ~ The leading source of information on cerebral palsy.  Advocacy for persons with any disability.

Cerebral Palsy of New Jersey ~ Offers a wide array of services and support to children and adults with disabilities and to their families.

Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deaf-Blind

National Association of the Deaf ~ Safeguards the accessibility and civil rights of deaf and hard of hearing Americans in a variety of areas including education, employment, health care and social services, and telecommunications.

Midwest Center for Post-secondary Outreach (MCPO) ~ Works primarily at an institutional level to increase the capacity of colleges, universities, and other post-secondary institutions to attract and serve Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.

National Information Clearinghouse on Children who are Deaf-Blind (DB-LINK) ~ A federally funded service that provides extensive information and resources.

National Technical Assistance Consortium for Children and Young Adults Who Are Deaf-Blind (NTAC) ~ A federally funded service that provides technical assistance, professional development, consultation, to meet the needs of youth who are deaf-blind.

Northeast Technical Assistance Center (NETAC) ~ Information available for postsecondary students who are deaf.

Postsecondary Education Consortium (PEC) ~ Information available for postsecondary students who are deaf.

Western Region Outreach Center & Consortia (WROCC) ~ Information available for post-secondary students who are deaf.

Down Syndrome

Down Syndrome Information Network ~ Provides comprehensive information, resources, and collaboration services to support and inform families, professionals and researchers involved in the case of individuals with Down syndrome.

National Down Syndrome Society ~ Provides education, research, and advocacy on behalf of individuals with down syndrome and their families.

Epilepsy

Epilepsy Foundation of New Jersey ~ Dedicated to the education and support of people with developmental disabilities including epilepsy, cerebral palsy, autism, mental retardation, spina bifida and traumatic brain injury, their families, caregivers and health care professional.

Fragile X

National Fragile X Foundation (NXFX).

Intellectual and Related Developmental Disabilities

The ARC of the United States (Mental Retardation) ~ A national organization for people with intellectual and related developmental disabilities and their families. Provides advocacy, supports, and services.

Best Buddies ~ Provides opportunities for one-to-one friendships.

Council on Quality and Leadership ~ A leader for quality of life for persons with intellectual disabilities and persons with mental illness, and the people, organizations and communities who support them.

Tourettes Syndrome

Tourettes Syndrome Association, Inc. ~ Offers education, resources, referrals, and advocacy services to help people and their families cope with the problems that occur with Tourette Syndrome.

Tourette Syndrome Association of New Jersey ~ Provides information, referral, advocacy, education, professional development on behalf of people with TS, their families, and the school and professional communities who serve them.

Williams Sydrome
